Ateneo Doesn't Care

A few minutes or an hour from now, the verdict of the Sandiganbayan will be read to Joseph Estrada. What are Ateneans doing? They're still talking about the Ateneo-La Salle game. To my left, a guy is giggling at the Multiply account of who knows who and the girl to my right is cramming a reaction paper on an Entablado play.

VP Cuyegkeng, you should have suspended classes. I'm not expecting Ateneans to rally on the street. At least they'd have an inkling of knowledge on what's happening outside.

I actually think that having classes was a good move. Philippine politics is not a teleserye na kailangan subaybayan to the point na tumitigil ang mundo. What they should have done was to PROVIDE TELEVISIONS in strategic locations such as MVP lobby, the Cafs etc. as was done during the basketball games.

oo, wala kaming paki-alam kay estrada. ang pangit niya.

Sigh. The saddest part is that 90% of us would not be aware of things even if classes were suspended!

Guita has a good point, by the way.

Hmm. You know Gadflies, I think we're becoming jaded. The average Atenean shrugs off political news, confident that it doesn't matter because nothing will truly change.

The outcome of the Estrada case proved that eloquently. Now the guy's talking about running for president again! :-(

Can we be that change which we fail to see?

Ah, there's the rub.

P.S. Ugliness does not make a good, bad, or popular president, sir Pekpek. Physically, anyway.
