We can only serve our country by telling her the truth, however bitter it be.

Can't you see the perfection in the present?
Claiming that the status quo is perfect is a twisted and ignorant comment. It leads us to question the reader's power of observation. It is also saddening to find those who have developed thick skins, myopic eyes, and deaf ears. Although we do not seek perfection (there is and will be no such thing), we strive for a society that values freedom.

What's your name?
Tell the truth.
Dear Gadflies,
To tell you the truth, I almost applauded when I read Gian-Paolo's comment, and for that, I apologize. I was being uncharitable.
You have done an excellent job of seeing and telling the truth, dear Gadflies, and for that it is you who receive my applause.
However, these truths are self-evident to all but a few idiots who believe the present situation to be perfect. On behalf of the Ateneans who retain the lost art of critical thinking, I apologize that we are not more numerous.
Now, what you are saying is neither new nor unknown. Therefore, you are saying it to heighten awareness and foment positive action, am I correct?
Laudable aims, but no one will take notice (except to criticize) until you stand up for your words by risking your names. Your time in the spotlight is fading, my friends. Already your Guidon headline lies forgotten. In two months you will be a curiosity and nothing more. Don't miss your chance. Prove your convictions by risking your names, and you will earn the respect and moral force you need to make what you are saying real to the hearts and minds of Ateneans everywhere.
Oh, and by the way, you have it backwards. We must seek perfection, knowing we may never reach it, if we are to reach the highest point we are capable of achieving. That includes a society that values freedom.
Truthfully Yours,
